The Importance of Maintaining A Spiritual Perspective
By Makayla Thompson
As Christians, we have to maintain a spiritual perspective in all things (Luke 21:36). By all, I mean all. In both natural situations and spiritual situations. This is a sign of wisdom. For example, someone is insulting you. You have two options: You can insult them back or you forgive them because it is the spirit talking to you, not the human. Which one kept the spiritual perspective? The one who forgave them because they understand that it is not the person taking it is the spirit talking through them. Just like the Holy Spirit can talk through us, the Devil can talk through us too. When we maintain a spiritual perspective we begin to notice when it’s Jesus talking or Lucifer talking. But, we can respond in two ways. We can respond in a godly way or an ungodly way. Let’s take a look at a couple of examples:
Example 1: “Serving God is too much work and energy.” (Lucifer)
Example 2: “I have a desire in my heart to serve God.” (Jesus)
Example 1: “You are so ugly and worthless” (Lucifer)
Example 2: “You are beautifully and wonderfully made” (Jesus)
Example 1: “Stop always talking about God, it’s annoying” (Lucifer)
Example 2: “Tell me more about God it’s relieving.” (Jesus)
Maintain a spiritual perspective in all things (Ephesians 5:14). You will notice that your life will be at peace. When you begin to see through the spiritual lens, you will see things differently than before (1 Peter 1:13). You will know if the enemy is plotting or not. “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” (1 Thessalonians 5:6) Don’t be asleep like everyone else. Don’t even mind what everyone else is doing. Do all to the glory of God rather than the glory of man (Galatians 1:10).
When you maintain this perspective you will not fear (Matthew 8:23-27), You will have faith (Matthew 14:25-31), He reveals things (Matthew 16:13-19). “Set your affection on the things above, not things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:2). God Bless!
