Case Study 1

Two devout Christians discussed the Holy Ghost, Power of the Spirit (Anointing), and their roles

Dialog: I explained the Holy Ghost comes to dwell in us like when Jesus saw the dove but he didn't get power until he came out of the wilderness. She argued only one baptism and that's when you get the power.

We will use godly wisdom found in the Holy Bible to clarify and answer the questions below; rather, than calling it an argument of opinions:

QUESTIONS:

Does the Holy Spirit come to live in us at born again birth? Is the baptism of power different from receiving the Holy Ghost? Do we get Holy Ghost at water baptism?

OUR RESPONSE:

The gift of the "Holy Spirit" is different from the "anointing or power of the Spirit." We noticed that both wanted to know about the Holy Ghost and the Power of the Spirit (the Anointing), so we provided the following answer through the help of the Holy Ghost, whose job is to bring all things to our understanding.

When we get baptized we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. We get the baptism of the Spirit either before or after baptism (Some speak in tongues before baptism; others after). However, we can quench the spirit if we don't walk in the light as he is the light. The Holy Spirit can be in the believe but dormant, inactive when we quench the Spirit:

“Quench not the Spirit.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:19 KJV

This scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit can be quenched within the believer.

The Bible teaches in Acts 2:38, .... "and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” - Acts 2:38-39 KJV

We are induced with power when we are about to do an assignment that requires activation of the anointing. This is different from being filled with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a gift and a promise of the Father to all believers who get baptized. But to be induce with power is when you are out there in the field and Satan is ready to challenge you. You will be induced with power to overcome the obstacles in your way while you minister the gospel to people, including deliverance, healing, etc.

Remember, the people are bound by Satan and God needs to equip you to smash down the gates of hell. This is induced with power. It's different from every believer receiving the gift of the Father.

When God breathes on the disciples, he gave them life (power); they already had the Holy Ghost but fear was quenching it. When God breaths on something it gives it life; it moves it from the dead state to becoming alive. He breath on Adam, a dead soul and he became a living soul.

The Holy Ghost is a promise to all. Induced with power is the anointing when you are on an assignment for God. We get Holy Ghost through baptism and sometimes before baptism. All the other scriptures justify these.

Speaking in tongues is the "evidence" that a person has the Holy Ghost if her is she is not sure. It's the evidence. However, some have the Holy Ghost and do not speak in tongues. The Holy Ghost is Jesus that comes to live inside of the believer whether or not he or she speaks in tongues.

He went in full of the Holy Spirit (Verse 1 of Luke 4). Verse 14 he came out full of the power (Luke 4:14). Right after coming out full of the power, he went into the synagogue to minister (Luke 4:18-20). Assignment time in the synagogue.

The Holy Ghost helped him resist Satan's temptations, but the power was when he was leaving for work. When you are leaving for spiritual work, you are induced with power. You already had the Holy Ghost

This is the power God assigns to the believer for his work, and it leaves just like the gift of healing when the work is done.
