The Spirit of Slumber

 

The spirit of slumber is talked about quite a lot in the Bible. We usually refer to it as the spirit of reprobate. The spirit of reprobate manifests as a sinner whose heart is so hardened that they feel no remorse or misgiving of conscience, they are often rejected by God and beyond hope of salvation. The spirit of reprobate and slumber causes the sinner to be spiritually blinded from the truth (Jesus). This causes them to only understand the things of Lucifer rather than the things of God. The worst part is that this hidden spirit is so ignorant so they believe they are in the right. Basically, this spirit is a spirit that causes people to be spiritually asleep.

 

Roman 1:28 mentions the spirit of reprobate. It states, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” In other words, even though they did not like to keep God in their knowledge (which is stored in the heart then transferred to the brain) and commandments he passed them over to a reprobate mind. The spirit of slumber makes you spiritually asleep.

 

Luke 21:34-36 says, “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” This spirit causes your heart to be overcharged with surfeiting (lose in desire for God), drunkenness (sinning, not being one’s self), and the cares of this life (money, being rich, famous). These people are referred to as unawares by Jesus. This spirit makes sure you do not get through the gates of heaven when the rapture is here because it will be unexpected. These will not be prepared for the coming of Christ like the ten virgins.

 

Matthew 25:1-13 says, “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Notice how it mentions the word slumber in verse 5. The spirit of slumber causes you not to be awake to know the truth because Lucifer knows this will guarantee you not making it.

 

The spirit of slumber can manifest in anyone. Even fake Christians can have the spirit of slumber. So wake up now, not tomorrow or in a year the time is now (Romans 13:11-14). We see this also in 1 Thess. 4:13-5:10. This spirit was manifested to stop people from getting through the gates. Romans 11:8-10 says, “(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.” They have the spirit of slumber, eyes that are blind, and ears that are deaf. Their eyes are darkened which causes them to stumble. They only see darkness. You know when you’re sleepy and you try to walk to the kitchen or bathroom and it’s dark. You can’t see which causes a high risk of stumbling or falling. As Jesus says, “He that hath ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Amen.

 

Prayer For The Spirit of Slumber:

Lord, I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that the chains of slumber will be broken off of every single soul in your will God. I pray for this spirit to be canceled in our loved ones and our enemies in the mighty name of Jesus. I pray for all the principalities of Satan to be broken off. Help us never to fall asleep. We want to be awake Lord. Thank you Jesus for your grace and mercy. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.
